A unit or vehicle is said to be Soft if it lacks armor or other protection against small-arms and shrapnel. Infantrymen or trucks are examples of Soft Targets. If a target is not Soft, it is a Hard Target.
Any potential target within a given TacArc. This means if the weapon or skill that the TacArc represents fires, there is a chance that a soft target will be hit with it. TacArc Short form for "Tactical Arc". The TacArc is a wedge-shaped holographic projection used by the player to determine what enemies to target, at what range and with what weapons.
Soft target is a military term referring to an unarmored/undefended civilian targets to be destroyed. For example, a soft target would be an automobile, a house or assembly of people while a hard target could be a main battle tank or a well defended installation. A soft target can generally be overcome from any direction with typical ordnance in use by line units, while a hard target may necessitate attack from a specific direction, with particular planning, en-masse, by special units or by ordnance made for the purpose.
A building, piece of critical infrastructure (i.e. dam, power plant, utility company, etc.) or other commercial or non-commercial entity, that has little if any security implementations in place, relative to barriers, cameras, guards, etc.
