School Social Worker. Rule 340.1799f of the Michigan Department of Education's Revised Administrative Rules for Special Education (November 2002) defines “school social worker” as a school social worker who is approved by the department. According to the Eaton Intermediate School District, school social workers provide intervention services to individuals and groups, as well as assess students referred to them and assist students, parents, and school personnel with school related issues. School social work priorities will be established by the Special Education Director of the local school district and the school social workers assigned to the district.
