Assistant to saw operator who carries fuel and tools, also engaged to move cut material such as brush or other objects.
A term associated with dozer operations. A swamper is the person or relief operator assisting dozer operator(s), often by driving a fuel or service tank.
(1) A worker who assists fallers and/or sawyers by clearing away brush, limbs and small trees. Carries fuel, oil and tools and watches for dangerous situations. (2) A worker on a dozer crew who pulls winch line, helps maintain equipment, etc., to speed suppression work on a fire.
An unskilled lumberjack, who cuts or swamps hauling roads or skidding trails.
