Marks indicating where to trim. Also called crop marks, or cut marks.
Marks along an axis of a plot that are perpendicular to the axis and serve to divide the axis (or parts of the axis) into equal or logarithmically spaced parts.
Marks that extend into the margins of the graph paper to show exactly where the division label (number) is to be applied. See examples on graphs in this manual.
(n) Short, perpendicular lines located along a primary line. Tick marks are used to mark important locations along the line, such as a point of tangency in a geometric construction or the regular divisions of units along a scale line in a visualization.
