Definitions for "Tinted"
(As applied to fenestration) bronze, green, blue, or gray coloring that is integral with the glazing material. Tinting does not include surface applied films such as reflective coatings, applied either in the field or during the manufacturing process.
Rather than the traditional black and white, many silent films were originally exhibited with color tinting added to the prints. Scenes were often colored to denote a certain mood (yellow for daylight scenes, blue for night, etc.). Many DVDs of silent films now preserve the original tinting specifications indicated by the film's creators.
