Basic building block for RNA. The more RNA is made, the more uridine is consumed by the cell to make the RNA. Laboratorians use tritiated uridine to measure how much RNA synthesis is occurring; the more radioactive the RNA, the more tritiated uridine is being consumed and the more RNA is being made.
