Definitions for "VIBROSEIS"
The process of producing seismic shock waves with "thumpers" or vibrator vehicles.
Vibroseis is an onshore seismic source which generates sound waves by mechanically vibrating a steel pad hydraulically lowered to the ground beneath a truck. Over time, onshore, Vibroseis has almost completely displaced dynamite as a seismic source. It is safer, more environmentally friendly, cheaper and can be used in areas where there is a lot of background noise.
Energy for seismic surveys generated by massive, truck-mounted, vibrating plates.
