Any one of certain plants whose soft, downy leaves have been used for dressing wounds, as the kidney vetch, and several species of the labiate genus Stachys.

Perennial herb ( Stachys palustris) of wetlands and water's edge. Has a long history of herbal use. Perhaps, or perhaps not, the Ojibwe mijiwâwashk, "wound herb/wound root."
