Xanadu or Zanadu was the summer capital of Kublai Khan's Mongol Empire, which covered much of Asia. It is in Inner Mongolia, 275 km north of Beijing, northwest of Duolun and northeast of Lanqui/Zhenglan Banner/Dund Hot. The capital consisted of the square-shaped "Outer City" (2,200 metres square), "Inner City" (1,400 metres square), and the palace, where Kublai Khan stayed in summer.
Xanadu is a 1980 musical/romance film directed by Robert Greenwald. Xanadu stars Olivia Newton-John (fresh from her role in Grease), Michael Beck, and Gene Kelly, and features music by Newton-John, Electric Light Orchestra, UK pop idol Cliff Richard, and the San Francisco-based art-rock band The Tubes.
Xanadu (often called "Xanadu Regio", though this is not its official name) is a highly reflective area of Saturn's moon Titan. Its name comes from Xanadu, the legendary palace described in Samuel Taylor Coleridge's poem Kubla Khan.
The soundtrack to the 1980 movie Xanadu featured songs on side one of the album written by John Farrar and performed by Olivia Newton-John, and songs on side two performed by the Electric Light Orchestra and composed by lead singer Jeff Lynne. Singles from this album include "Magic" and "Suddenly" from the Newton-John side, and "All Over the World", "I'm Alive" and "Xanadu" from the ELO side.
Xanadu is a song recorded by the Canadian progressive rock trio Rush for their 1977 album A Farewell to Kings. It is approximately eleven minutes long, beginning with a five-minute-long instrumental section, then transitioning to a narrative written by lyricist Neil Peart, inspired by the Samuel Taylor Coleridge poem Kubla Khan.
"Xanadu" is the title song from the album Xanadu, the soundtrack to the 1980 film of the same name.
