Some insurance companies will provide a basic vehicle for you to use whilst your vehicle is being repaired. If your vehicle is critical to your work, this option can be invaluable. The cost of the courtesy car will usually be reflected in the cost of the policy.
A courtesy car, also called a crew car, is a car provided by an FBO to transient pilots for a fairly short time free of charge or at a nominal charge. This is to run short errands or grab a quick meal. It's a great service.
an optional extra for comprehensive cover
A courtesy car is a free car provided by the repairing garage. You will be entitled to a courtesy car if you have comprehensive insurance and you are using your insurance companies approved repairer. If you are entitled to a courtesy car you must use this vehicle unless it is un-suitable for your needs i.e. the vehicle is not large enough for you to transport your family. Please note you will not be entitled to a courtesy car if you are insured third party /third party fire and theft, if your vehicle is an undrievable write off, or if you have no cover under your insurance policy.
