A prophet of the country that denounced idols and attacked royalty in prophecizing the restoration of Jerusalem. The Book of Micah contains one (of many) formulas for what G-d requires: "Do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your G-d."

a prophet who lived in the late 700s BC and whose name means "who is like the Lord". There is a book in the Old Testament which bears his name. Through him God spoke about people being more concerned with ceremonies than with true godliness; about oppression of the poor; about true and false prophets and about the Messiah coming from Bethlehem.
