A generic term for a registered username at an Internet Service Provider (ISP). An Internet account is accessed via username and password. Services such as dial-in PPP Internet access and e-mail are provided by ISPs to Internet account owners.

The name that describes a person's authorization to access the Internet. Everyone who uses the Internet has an Internet account, just as everyone who uses the bank has a bank account.

Purchased through an Internet service provider, the account assigns a password and email address to an individual or group.
