Person who is incapable of managing his own affairs because of a disability.

A term used to describe a person lacking the ability to make decisions concerning health care or, more generally, personal matters. The incapacity may be mental (i.e., Alzheimer's disease) or physical (i.e., the effects of a stroke). When a person has a guardian appointed, the person is often referred to as "incapacitated."
