(1) A housing for delicate semiconductors or IC's usually an alumina substrate although glass ceramic may be used. Thick film or thin film conductive paths on the ceramic connect the microcircuit active elements to the rest of the electronic system. (2) Any small, flat, square or rectangular integrated circuit packaged with leads coming from the sides of the package, in the same plane as the package.
An integrated circuit package having its leads extended from the sides and parallel to the base.
A type of packaging used in mint sets and earlier US proof sets (1955-64)
A flat, rectangular IC package type with the necessary leads projecting from the sides of the package.
