The act of deluding; deception; a misleading of the mind.
The state of being deluded or misled.
A mental factor that arises from inappropriate attention and functions to make the mind unpeaceful and uncontrolled. There are three main delusions: ignorance, desirous attachment and anger. From these arise all other delusions, such as jealousy, pride and deluded doubt.

An obscuration covering the essentially pure nature of the mind, being thereby responsible for suffering and dissatisfaction; the main delusion is ignorance, out of which grow desirous attachment, hatred, jealousy, and all the other delusions.
A form of ignorance (avidya). Along with anger and desire, it is one of the three forces that cause reincarnation.
