Glasgow (Glaschu in Gaelic; or Glesca/Glesga in Scots) is the largest city in Scotland.
Glasgow is one of the eight electoral regions of the Scottish Parliament (Holyrood), which were created in 1999. Ten of the parliament's 73 first past the post constituencies are sub-divisions of the region and it elects seven of the 56 additional-member Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs). Thus it elects a total of 17 MSPs.
Clyde Burghs, representing the burghs along the River Clyde and the Firth of Clyde, was a district of burghs constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of Great Britain from 1708 to 1801 and of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 1801 to 1832.
