A listing of sources cited in a research paper. Always used with parenthetical citations; may also be used with footnotes or endnotes. Appears at the end of a research paper. Sources cited are listed alphabetically by the author's last name (or by title, if there is no author). Also called a Reference List.
The alphabetized list of sources used - and therefore cited - in a research paper or project. According to the Modern Language Association, the term "Works Cited" is to replace the use of "Bibliography." See Creating a Works Cited in this manual.
Within the context of a document composed as per some style guide, a works cited page lists all content used during the formation of a certain work. It includes the author(s), the publisher (if from a book), the year published, and the name of article or book. It is usually found at the end of a work and give credits to the authors of cited information.
