A limp is a type of asymmetric abnormality of the gait. Limping may be caused by unequal leg lengths (short leg limp), experiencing pain when walking (antalgic limp, or trendelenburg), muscle weakness, disorders of proprioception, or stiffness of joints (in arthritis, for example).
