Courses chosen from English/language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and modern/classical language for a high school diploma. For a Technical/Career-Preparatory program of study, four Technical/Career-Preparatory units are also considered to be core courses.

Core courses are what define the nature of the Scientific Photography program. These courses are mandatory for all Scientific Photography students. Each year of the program has its core courses. Students must pass all core courses in sequence to continue the program.
