Psychics with the ability to bridge the gap between this world and the spirit world are known as Psychic Mediums. This ability to connect with those who have passed on has been around for centuries. Psychic Mediumship experienced a revival during the era of Spiritualism, in the late-19th and early-20th centuries. This was a time when people were trying to define and balance their spiritual beliefs with the booming materialism and changes of the Industrial Revolution. Today there seems to be awareness in the value of Psychics spreading through mainstream America. With stars, like Jennifer Lopez, touring with their own personal spiritual counselors and television networks, like NBC, featuring gifted Psychic Mediums in drama series, the world is finally tuning in to the metaphysical.

Often mediums are consulted in order to clear haunted buildings of spirits who are earthbound - who either aren't ready to leave the earth or don't know that they are dead. In a few cases, there have been murder victims who have helped to solve their own murders through mediums.
