Within the peritoneum. The abdomen is like a big bag which contains the intestines, liver, spleen and in the female, the reproductive organs. The lining of this space is called the peritoneum. Intraperitoneal is within the abdominal cavity.
Into the abdominal cavity. This route is very infrequently used.
Intraperitoneal refers to location within the serous membrane of the abdominal cavity called the peritoneum.
Within the peritoneal cavity. An intraperitoneal injection is made into the peritoneal cavity in the abdomen.
Within the peritoneal (abdominal) cavity. Laparotomy: An exploratory surgery that allows the doctor to inspect the organs in the abdomen. Exploratory laparotomy is usually done making a full incision on the abdomen from just above the pubic area to the umbilicus or above.
