Genes are transcribed into segments of RNA (ribonucleic acid), which are translated into proteins. Both RNA and proteins are products of the expression of the gene. Gene Defects: Change in the unit of the heredity, usually resulting in the expression of a disease, also called a mutation. Mutations usually disrupt the structure of a protein. In the case of an enzyme, this change may result in the loss of function.

The protein or RNA encoded by a gene. A single gene may have multiple protein products, due to extensive post-translational modification. The large-scale study of all possible gene products is the goal of the Human Proteome Project (HUPO).

Protein or enzyme encoded in a gene. Some genes can code for more than one gene product due to gene-splicing post-translational modifications.

The name of the protein or RNA product (and its function, if relevant) that is coded for by the gene.

a protein which is formed on expression of a gene

The protein resulting from the expression of a gene. In some cases, the gene product may be an RNA molecule that is never translated.

The mRNA or protein encoded by a specific gene, or more properly, alleles of the gene.

The biochemical material, either RNA or protein, resulting from expression of a gene. The amount of gene product is used to measure how active a gene is; abnormal amounts can be correlated with disease-causing alleles. Source : Human Genome Project Information

The product, either RNA or protein, that results from expression of a gene. The amount of gene product reflects the activity of the gene.

The biochemical material, either RNA or protein, resulting from expression of a gene. The amount of gene product is used to measure how active a gene is; abnormal amounts can be correlated with disease-causing alleles. As gene products include all the alternative splicing products, there are estimated to be at least 100,000 distinct such products.

A gene product is the biochemical material, either RNA or protein, resulting from expression of a gene. The amount of gene product is used to measure how active a gene is. Abnormal amounts of gene product can be correlated with disease-causing alleles, such as the overactivity of oncogenes which can cause cancer.
