Individual travel in which a tour operator has previously arranged blocks of rooms at various destinations in advance for use by individual travelers. These travelers travel independently, not in a group, usually by rental car or public transportation.
The term used to stand for foreign independent travel, but now refers to independent travel.
Frequent Independent Traveler. Designation which applies to visitors who arrive on their own as opposed to being a part of an organized group.
Free and Independent Travellers
foreign independent tour. An international tour planned exclusively for a client by a travel agent.
Free Independent Travellers - visitors coming to NZ on holiday who do not purchase pre-packaged travel or pay for anything other than international airfares prior to arriving in NZ. Whilst in NZ, they organise their own travel as they go, do not travel as part of a tour group or on a coach tour.
Foreign Independent Tour. An international prepaid tour, usually unescorted, although guide service is often offered on some segments. An FIT is designed to the specifications of an individual client or clients.
Foreign Independent Travel. A custom-designed, prepaid travel package with many individualized arrangements. FIT are unescorted and usually have no formal itinerary.
Foreign independent tour - actually used generically now for a travel package put together by a travel agent from separate components such as car, hotel and airfare, adjusted exactly as the traveler wishes.
