Shock caused by a diseased heart that has become so dysfunctional that it can no longer pump sufficient blood to the body.
Extreme life threatening heart failure.
shock caused by cardiac arrest
A severely dangerous condition involving decreased blood output from the heart, usually as a result of a heart attack.
Failure to maintain blood supply to the tissues because of inadequate cardiac output, such as may be caused in myocardial infarction.
Cardiogenic shock is the failure to maintain enough blood to maintain a normal body blood pressure (and supply adequate blood to the tissues) because of inadequate cardiac output, for instance in myocardial infarction. Cardiogenic shock can result in fainting, organ failure or death.
Cardiogenic shock is based upon an inadequate circulation of blood due to primary failure of the ventricles of the heart to function effectively. http://www.lww.com/product/?0-7817-3548-3 Irwin and Rippe's Intensive Care Medicine by Irwin and Rippe, Fifth Edition (2003), Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, ISBN 0-7817-3548-3
