Regimental Medical Officer

RECORDS MANAGEMENT OFFICER. The person assigned responsibility by the agency head for overseeing an agencywide records management program. Also called records officer or records manager. See also INFORMATION SYSTEM MANAGER, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY MANAGER, PROGRAM MANAGER, RECORDS LIAISON OFFICER.

Responsible Medical Officer. The consultant psychiatrist with medical responsibility for a service user.

Risk Management Office

Responsible Medical Officer. The RMO is appointed by the hospital managers when a patient is detained under the Mental Health Act in that hospital. The RMO can be any medical practitioner but will usually be an Approved Medical Practitioner.

Every patient who is compulsorily admitted to hospital under the Mental Health Act 1983 is allocated a ‘responsible medical officer' who is a doctor on the staff of the hospital who has responsibility for that particular patient.
