Gap 2 phase of the eucaryotic cell cycle, between the end of DNA synthesis and the beginning of mitosis.
a phase within interphase of the cell division cycle that prepares cells for mitosis.
In the cell cycle, the gap between the S (synthesis) phase and the onset of mitosis.
The second gap period of the cell cycle.
The part of interphase of the cell cycle that follows S phase.
G2 phase is the third, final, and usually the shortest subphase during interphase within the cell cycle. It follows successful completion of DNA synthesis and chromosomal replication during the S phase, and occurs during a period of often four to five hours. This far into interphase the nucleus is well defined, bound by a nuclear envelope and contains at least one nucleolus.
