When the club hits the ground before hitting the ball.
(aka: "fat" or "thick") to hit the ground before the ball, usually resulting in the ball not going as far as intended. Example: "That ball would have cleared the water if you hadn't chunked it."

Also considered a "fat" shot. This is one of the most embarrassing and costly shots and is caused when the club strikes ground considerably behind the ball, and in some cases, resulting in a divot flying further than the ball itself.
A shot in which a player hits behind the ball removing more turf than desired —the shot is much shorter than intended. Also called a chili-dip or a fat shot.
