Dhuhr is the noon prayer whose time extends from just after the sun has passed its zenith until mid-afternoon. The dhuhr prayer consists of four sunnah rakat, followed by four fard rakat, followed by two sunnah rakat.

The Dhuhr prayer ("dh" pronounced as "th" in "Thou", or simplified to "zo") is the prayer after mid-day (but before the shadow of the sun becomes twice its length from midday.) Performed daily by practicing Muslims, it is the second of the five daily prayers (salat). The five daily prayers collectively are one of the Five Pillars of Islam in Sunni Islam, and one of the ten Furoo-ul-deen, according to Shia Islam.
