Annual Cycle Energy System. A thermal energy storage system involving a large (10,000 gallon) water storage tank. In the winter, heat is extracted from the thermal mass of the water causing the water to cool and freeze by spring. In the summer, air is blown over the ice for air conditioning, warming the mass for heating again in the winter. Thus far, ACES is just a theory due to the complexities of the heat pumps and insulating sustems which would be required.
