Carbonized used to be a Swedish death metal band. They later developed into psychedelic grindcore and gradually became more and more avant garde. Their final album Screaming Machines was a psychedelic and dissonant sounding metal album and was, at least at the time of the release, one of the most unconventional records ever released.
Carbonized was formed by Lars Rosenberg in 1988, with Dismember vocalist Matti Karki its early stages. Joined by drummer Piotr Wawrzeniuk, the trio was completed by Therion's Christofer Johnsson, who originally agreed to only perform session guitarwork but eventually became a full-time member.
