(Greek mythology) the Greek god of sleep; the son of Nyx

In Greek mythology, Hypnos was the personification of sleep; the Roman equivalent was known as Somnus . His twin was Thanatos ("death"); their mother was the goddess Nyx ("night"). His palace was a dark cave where the sun never shines.

Hypnos is the name of a fictional organization from the Digimon Tamers TV series. This covert agency is believed to be named after the title of a minor tale by horror author H. P. Lovecraft and Hypnos the Greek God of Sleep.

Hypnos is a short story by American horror fiction writer H.P. Lovecraft, penned in March 1922 and first published in the May 1923 issue of National Amateur.
