Definitions for "1 inch type B videotape"
B (designated Type B by SMPTE) is an open-reel videotape format developed by Bosch in Germany in 1976. It never saw much success outside Europe however, due to the format requiring an optional and costly digital framestore in addition to the normal analog timebase corrector to do any "trick-play" functions, such as still, or variable-speed playback.
