The 100-Mile Wilderness is a section of the Appalachian Trail running between Mt. Katahdin and Monson, Maine, USA. Large increases in foot traffic through this section of the trail since the 1990s, probably due in part to its description in the popular book A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson, have largely eroded its mystique as a wilderness trail.
