Asteroid 10937 Ferris was discovered August 27, 1998 by the Lowell Observatory Near-Earth-Object Search (LONEOS) at the Anderson Mesa station near Flagstaff, Arizona. The asteroid, designated , is named in honor of William D. Ferris, an astronomy enthusiast who observed with the LONEOS project from 1998 to 2000.
