THC is the primary active Δ9-THC metabolite. It is created when Cannabis (usually in the form of marijuana mixed with lipids or in the form of hashish) is consumed orally, i.e. eaten. It is believed that 11-hydroxy-THC is created in the liver from Δ9-THC.
