The Main belt asteroid 11169 Alkon was discovered by the Lincoln Laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The Ceres Connection program was established in partnership with http://www.sciserv.org Science Service to name minor planets for students selected through an essay contest. The winner requested his grandfather's family name be memorialized.
