Definitions for "1996-97 Heineken Cup"
The 1996-97 Heineken Cup (the rugby union club championship of Europe) is the second of the series. Competing teams, from France, Ireland, Italy, Wales and for the first time England and Scotland, were divided into four pools of five, in which teams played each other only once, meaning two home and two away games per team. The winners and runners-up of the pools qualified for the knock-out stages.
