Definitions for "Allegations of war crimes against U.S. officials"
A number of prominent U.S. officials have been accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity by some antiwar and human rights groups. None of these officials, however, are indicted by any legitimate prosecuting domestic authority. Therefore legal proceedings were started against Rumsfeld, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, former CIA director George Tenet and other senior U.S. civilian and military officers in Germany on November 14, 2006, invoking universal jurisdiction.
