Definitions for "Allies of World War II"
The Allies of World War II were the countries officially opposed to the Axis Powers during the Second World War. During the war they were often called the United Nations, although that name now usually refers to the international organisation they established after the war. Within the ranks of the Allied powers, the United States of America (U.S.), the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (Soviet Union) and United Kingdom (U.K.) were known as "The Big Three."
