Definitions for "Anolis"
A genus of lizards which belong to the family Iguanidæ. They take the place in the New World of the chameleons in the Old, and in America are often called chameleons.
Anolis is a genus of lizards belonging to the family Iguanidae. With nearly 400 species, Anolis represents the world's most species rich amniote genus. Several species of Anolis are occasionally referred to the genus Norops, but this arrangement is problematic because it renders remaining members of the genus non-monophyletic.
