The language and culture of one of the oldest civilizations known to man who inhabited the area of Lake Titicaca. Successful resistance to domination by the Incan empire allowed the Aymaran people to retain their language and much of their culture through the ages.
(Aymara) An indigenous group that lives in the southern Andes and the language they speak. There are Aymara speakers in modern day Bolivia, Chile, and Peru.
