Sound that crabs will sometimes make when feeling threatened or to communicate with other crabs. It is not known exactly how they make the noise...it has been suggested that they have chitinous plates inside their bodies that they can vibrate together to produce the sound. It is a mystery-much the same way a cat's purr is a mystery.
