Examples: Fraxinus (Olea ceae), Quercus (Faga- ceae). Comment: If the separation forms a cavity the term fastigium should be applied. See also: fastigium. Germinal aperture ( Wodehouse, 1935) A hole in the furrow membrane through which the pollen tube emerges. Comment: Examples: germ pore (synonym of pore), germinal furrow (synonym of ectocolpus).
