A Hoosier is a native of the U.S. state of Indiana. The term is commonly accepted and employed at all levels of discourse by Hoosiers themselves, and is considered neither derogatory nor informal when used to describe people from Indiana. The non-existent word Indianan, as either noun or adjective, is never used by natives of Indiana.
