Any of the New World birds of the family Icteridæ, the Blackbirds and Orioles. Represented in the North Country by three blackbirds, the Red Winged Blackbird ( Agelaius phoeniceus), Rusty Blackbird ( Euphagus carolinus), and Common Grackle ( Quiscalus quiscula), and a feathered nest parasite, the Brown Headed Cowbird ( Molothrus ater).
The Icterids are a group of small to medium, often colourful passerine birds restricted to the New World.
