Indris are a type of lemur with a very short stump of a tail; they are the largest type of lemur alive today. Tho loud call of the indri can be heard for over a mile. These large-eyed primates live in small familiy groups and eat leaves and fruits. Indris are only found in Madagascar. They are called "babakoto" in the Malagasy language.
The Indri (Indri indri), also called the Entrina, is a large (up to 70 cm long, and weighing up to 13 kg) tree-dwelling relative of the lemur and, like all lemuroids, it is native to Madagascar. It has only a rudimentary tail, and large eyes. The long silky coat, except on the bare black face and snout, is particolored.
