Definitions for "Isobutyl"
Isobutyl (Common Name) or 2-Methylpropyl (IUPAC) is a substituent group with the formula C4H9. As the IUPAC name suggests, it is composed of a propyl chain with its own methyl substituent attached to the second carbon atom. This group should not be confused with iso-propyl which lacks the first CH2 bonded to the R substituent.
