Definitions for "LTCM"
Long Term Capital Management. A private investment partnership or hedge fund that became overleveraged in 1998 in positions that would have been profitable if a variety of price and yield relationships had returned to historic patterns. When spreads widened rather than narrowed, a group of commercial and investment banks encouraged by the New York Federal Reserve Bank recapitalized LTCM. The reputations of LTCM's managers apparently give its creditors a deceptive sense of security.
