Lung Volume Reduction Surgery. Reduction Pneumoplasty is performed on patients with emphysema and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Varied surgical procedures allow the compressed lung to expand, thus establishing improved respiratory function. LVRS is also referred to as lung shaving, lung contouring, thoracoscoipc bullectomy or simply lung reduction.
