Mikoyan, formerly Mikoyan-Gurevich , is a Russian military aircraft design bureau, primarily for fighter aircraft. It was formerly a Soviet design bureau, and was founded by Artem Mikoyan and Mikhail Gurevich as "Mikoyan-Gurevich" and its bureau prefix is "MiG." Some sources also point out that MIG stands for Military Industrial Group, but this is most probably an english backronym since the russian word for "Military" does not start with "M".
